Optimising Brain Health & Performance
Transformind Health and Wellness was set up to dispel the myth about mental health and ageing. You can change your brain at any age. If you are in your twenties and assume that you don’t have to worry about cognitive decline, think again. The human brain does not fully mature until age 25. This means your current diet, sleep, exercise patterns, alcohol consumption and overall lifestyle are impacting how your brain is developing.
In your thirties, your brain reaches full maturation – and then the process of natural brain aging begins. This is when we start losing as many as 85,000 neurones per day and quantifiable signs of cognitive decline can being to appear. Taking care of you brain can slow the aging process and set you up for a healthier, happier and smart middle age.

When you reach 40, the volume of your brain declines by average of 5 per cent per year. You can slow this age related shrinkage by following our guidelines.

And while the brain starts to shrink more rapidly in our seventies, researchers found those who stay physically fit and mentally active can be as happy and mentally healthy as twenty year olds. Brain scans also suggest people in their seventies have better emotional well being than those in their twenties.

We believe that each person is unique and as a result, needs a personalised nutrition and lifestyle approach to maintain their best brain health – known as optimal health. Studies have shown that what we eat can play a significant role in our mental health (nutrient deficiencies, biochemical imbalances and genetic factors all contribute). This is because the production of key elements in our mental health- our neurotransmitters – is based on the nutrients found in our food, our ability to regulate our genes, as well as how we protect ourselves against toxins in our environment and more.

Why Bio Hack your Brain?
Your brain contains 100 billion neurons or brain cells in addition there are even more glial cells which provide support for the neurons. An individual neuron can connect to more than 10,000 other neurons through synapses, or junctions that allow cells tp pass electrical messages, chemical signals and other information. This level of connectivity keeps our brains incredibly busy, capable of making 100 trillion connections.

When it comes to mental storage capacity, the brain outperforms your iPhone and even your desktop computer. . The human brain can hold the equivalent of 2.5 million gigabytes of digital memory – compare to the latest smartphone, which can only store 512 gigabytes. Or another way to understand it is, if our brain could record tv programmes, it could hold around 300 million hours of shows, enough to keep you TV continuously running for more than 300 years.

Your brain generates real electricity and can produce enough electrical activity to power a low wattage light bulb or to fully charge an iPhone in about seventy hours.

This incredible brain is made up of 75% water by weight and 60% fat by composition. So hydration and easting sufficient essential fatty acids is highly important.
